GOHA BriefLoews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando is a bayfront resort on Universal's grounds, built to look like the Italian seaside town of Portofino. It's family-friendly and also suits business and leisure travellers who want to stay close to the parks.
You may see this place listed as Universal Studios Portofino Bay Resort, but its official name is Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando. The hotel recreates a Mediterranean village, with cobblestone streets, cypress trees and a central piazza. It has 750 guest rooms, including 45 suites. Options include bay-view rooms with two queen beds, family rooms with two queen beds, and suites with a king bed and sleeper sofa.
Getting to the parks is easy. Walking paths link the hotel to Universal CityWalk and the Universal parks, and the walk is short. Free water taxis and shuttle buses also run to the theme parks and CityWalk. Guests get free Universal Express Unlimited, which lets you skip the regular ride queues at participating attractions.
There are three themed pools. The Beach Pool has a Roman aqueduct-themed water slide, a sandy beach, a children's pool, two Jacuzzis and beach cabanas. The Villa Pool also has cabanas, and the Hillside Pool is a quieter, more secluded spot for adults. The hotel has eight restaurants and lounges, including Mama Della's Ristorante, Bice Ristorante, Trattoria del Porto, Sal's Market Deli and Splendido Bar & Grill, and room service runs around the clock. You'll also find the Mandara Spa, a fitness centre, bocce ball courts, jogging and walking paths, and a supervised children's activity center.
