Overview
GOHA BriefUniversal Islands of Adventure is a theme park in Orlando, part of Universal Orlando Resort, split into eight themed islands built mostly around film, TV, comic and book properties. It suits thrill seekers and fans who want to step into favorite stories, and it also has a long list of family-friendly attractions.
The park opened in May 1999 and took the name Universal's Islands of Adventure in 2001. It is laid out as eight themed zones, which the park calls islands, and most are based on licensed properties. Alongside the rides you will find restaurants, shops and live shows.
The headline areas are easy to spot. The Jurassic World VelociCoaster runs over the park entrance and past raptor statues in the Jurassic Park area. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade has a flight in Hogwarts Castle and the Hogwarts Express train. Marvel Super Hero Island has The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, a 3D simulator ride, plus other Marvel rides and life-sized characters. Skull Island: Reign of Kong is a 3D journey into the giant ape's domain.
Toon Lagoon is the water zone, with Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls log flume, Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges river rafts, and Me Ship, The Olive, a playground for younger kids. Plan on at least one full day here, or two if you want to see both Universal parks.
