GOHA BriefThe Florida Citrus Tower is a 1950s observation tower in Clermont, built to showcase the region's citrus industry. It suits anyone who wants a short, easy outing with wide views over Lake Minneola and the surrounding lakes, plus a coffee on the ground floor.
The Citrus Tower opened on U.S. Highway 27 in July 1956 and has kept the same name ever since. It stands about 226 feet tall, a short drive west of Orlando in Clermont. A religious group bought the landmark in September 2022 and has been restoring it with an eye to keeping its vintage character.
The main event is the elevator ride up to the observation deck. The deck wraps all the way around the tower, so you get a full 360-degree view of the area, including Lake Minneola and other lakes. On a clear day you can see about 35 miles in every direction.
Back on the ground floor, a coffee shop is a central part of the visit. You can grab a coffee and take your time before or after heading up.
