Overview
GOHA BriefLakeridge Winery & Vineyards is a vineyard estate in Clermont, about 25 miles west of downtown Orlando, known for sparkling and premium wines made from native muscadine grapes. A visit centers on a roughly 45-minute guided tour and tasting, which suits wine-curious couples, friends and large groups looking for an easy outing from the city.
Lakeridge opened in February 1989 on 127 acres of rolling countryside along U.S. 27 North in Clermont. The winery calls itself Florida's largest premium winery. Alongside its muscadine-based bottlings, it makes European vinifera styles such as Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Tours start with a short video, about 12 minutes, covering everything from growing Florida grapes to bottling and labeling. From there the guided tour moves through the production area and ends on a balcony overlooking the vineyards. The tasting happens downstairs at a large counter, where roughly eight to nine wines, from dry to sweet, are usually poured. Afterward, the wine shop and gift area sells accessories, glassware, cooking items and gourmet foods.
On Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m., the vineyard lawn hosts a food court, live music and an outdoor wine bar. The winery also hosts festivals and events [Event calendar not yet verified].
