GOHA BriefDisney's Hollywood Studios is a theme park inside Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, built around film-inspired lands and the Golden Age of Hollywood. It suits Star Wars and Toy Story fans, thrill riders and families with small kids, since there is a good mix of big rides, gentle rides and stage shows.
The park opened on May 1, 1989, and covers about 135 acres. It is split into themed areas: Hollywood Boulevard, Echo Lake, Sunset Boulevard, Animation Courtyard, Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Restaurants are spread across the lands, including The Hollywood Brown Derby and Trolley Car Cafe on Hollywood Boulevard.
Galaxy's Edge is the big draw, with Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which one guide calls the park's most immersive ride. Star Tours – The Adventures Continue is a full-motion Star Wars flight simulator. On Sunset Boulevard, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror drops you down an elevator shaft in the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, now themed to The Muppets, is the park's only coaster with inversions.
For something calmer, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway is the park's only dark ride, set inside the Chinese Theater building. Shows fill out the day: Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage, The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure in Animation Courtyard, the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular in Echo Lake, and Fantasmic at night.
