GOHA BriefWonderWorks Orlando is an indoor science attraction on International Drive with more than 100 hands-on exhibits, which the operator calls an amusement park for the mind. It is marketed for all ages and suits families, curious kids and anyone looking for an indoor plan.
You will spot WonderWorks easily: it is the upside-down building on International Drive. The story goes that it is a laboratory that landed there after an experiment went wrong. Inside, the focus is on mixing learning with play.
A visit means moving through hands-on exhibits at your own pace. You can feel hurricane-force winds of about 74 mph, pilot a NASA-style spacecraft and land a shuttle, or lie on a bed of nails. The space zone has a life-size replica of an EVA spacesuit, and at the Wonder Coaster you design your own roller coaster and then ride it.
There is plenty for people who want more action, too: a 360-degree virtual roller coaster, a 4D XD motion theater, a laser tag arena and an indoor glow-in-the-dark ropes course. The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show runs in the same building, with pizza, salad and dessert. Because it is all indoors, it is a solid choice for a rainy day in Orlando.
