GOHA BriefShingle Creek Regional Park is an urban natural area in Kissimmee at the headwaters of the Florida Everglades, with trails, creek paddling and a walk-through Pioneer Village. It suits walkers, cyclists, paddlers and anyone curious about old Osceola County homestead life.
The park is pieced together from several parcels bought through conservation partnerships, using Osceola County, City of Kissimmee and South Florida Water Management District funds. The result is a string of sites along Shingle Creek where you can explore on foot, by bike or by boat.
The 160-acre Babb Landing section has historic structures to explore and is home to species such as the American bald eagle. An easy trail of about 1.8 miles loops through a former homestead and citrus grove along the creek. Pioneer Village here gathers authentic historic structures moved from around Osceola County, including an 1898 Cracker house, and you can walk through them.
On the water, paddlers can start a roughly 2-mile trip from Babb Landing, with Steffee Landing as an alternate put-in, and Marsh Landing has a public canoe and kayak launch. The Shingle Creek Regional Trail, a multi-use path through one of Florida's busiest urban areas, is planned to run 32 miles from Kissimmee to Wekiva Springs State Park when finished.
