Overview
GOHA BriefMagic Kingdom is the original theme park at Walt Disney World Resort, near Orlando, built around classic attractions, parades, fireworks and Disney characters. It suits families and first-time Disney visitors who want the fairy-tale side of the resort, with Cinderella Castle at its center.
Magic Kingdom sits in Bay Lake at Walt Disney World Resort and opened on October 1, 1971. Its design was modeled on Disneyland in Anaheim, California, so the layout and many of the fairy-tale-themed attractions will feel familiar if you have been there. Cinderella Castle is the landmark you will keep orienting yourself by.
The park is split into six themed lands, each with its own focus. In Frontierland, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a mine-train ride through a haunted ghost town setting, and in Fantasyland the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster opened in 2014. Newer additions include TRON Lightcycle / Run and Tiana's Bayou Adventure. You can also ride the park's steam trains.
Between rides, guests meet Disney characters, shop and eat, with options ranging from quick snacks to themed restaurants. The park also hosts animated parades and fireworks, which are a big part of the day for many visitors.
