GOHA BriefLake Louisa State Park is a large Florida state park in Clermont, about 30 minutes from Orlando, built around three lakes, trails and campgrounds. It suits paddlers, cyclists, horse riders, campers and anyone who wants a day outdoors away from the city.
The park covers roughly 4,372 acres, with Lake Louisa, Hammond Lake and Dixie Lake as its main lakes. The state markets it as a natural theme park, and the range of things to do backs that up. Keep an eye out for white-tailed deer, bobcats, gopher tortoises, bald eagles and ospreys.
A day here can mean canoeing, kayaking or paddleboarding on the lakes, swimming at Lake Louisa's designated area, or fishing from the pier. Cyclists get about seven miles of paved park roads and more than 20 miles of unpaved multi-use trails. Riders have about 16 miles of equestrian trails, and guided horseback trail rides are available. A concessionaire runs guided kayak and Segway tours, and the Camper Canteen rents bikes, canoes and kayaks. There's also a picnic pavilion and a canoe and kayak launch.
If you want to stay over, options run from full-facility campsites to remote primitive and group sites, plus cabins and concessionaire-run glamping tents. Horse owners can use the primitive equestrian campground, which has paddocks.
