GOHA BriefAerophile at Disney Springs is a tethered helium balloon ride that lifts a basket of guests up to about 400 feet above the West Side of Disney Springs. It suits anyone who wants a short, smooth look over Walt Disney World, including families, since there is no height requirement.
The balloon sits in the West Side area of Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando. It is not a free-floating hot air balloon. It is a helium-filled Aéro30 model, custom-built for Disney by Paris-based Aérophile S.A., and it rises and falls on a cable, so it never drifts away.
While you wait, you can hear facts about the balloon and how it works, and the open loading area lets you watch it go up and come down. Once aboard, the basket holds up to 29 guests plus one certified pilot. The flight lasts about 8 minutes and is described as silent and smooth, and you can walk all the way around the basket to take in every side.
The views are the draw. On a clear day you can see about 10 miles, including Walt Disney World theme parks and landmarks like the Epcot ball and the Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios.
