Overview
GOHA BriefDisney's Polynesian Village Resort is a South Pacific-themed Disney Deluxe Resort on Seven Seas Lagoon, just south of Magic Kingdom and on the monorail line. It has beaches, two main pools and several places to eat and drink. One guide calls it a good fit for families who love Moana, couples and large groups.
The Polynesian opened in 1971 as one of the first two on-site hotels at Walt Disney World. It is laid out as a village of longhouses around the central Great Ceremonial House, on the southern shore of Seven Seas Lagoon. Magic Kingdom is two monorail stops away, and the monorail station is on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House.
Rooms range from standard rooms and suites to villa-style units, and some rooms come with concierge service. Out on the lagoon, the Bora Bora Bungalows have private decks with their own plunge pools. Days here can mean the large Lava Pool with its water slide, the quieter Oasis Pool, the beach areas, boat rentals, fishing, volleyball, the jogging trail or an evening campfire.
What stands out most is the lagoon view. You can watch the nightly Magic Kingdom fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant from the resort, including from the pool. For food, there is 'Ohana for family-style Polynesian dining, Kona Café with its open sushi kitchen, quick-service Captain Cook's, Wailulu Bar & Grill in the Island Tower, and lounges like Trader Sam's Grog Grotto and Tambu Lounge.
